Quarantine Exercises
Lesson 3 – Present Progressive/Continuous

Instructions:

1.    Review the Present Progressive/Continuous from Unit 4:
The present progressive puts emphasis on the course or duration of an action.

The present progressive is used for actions going on in the moment of speaking and for actions taking place only for a short period of time. It is also used to express development and actions that are arranged for the near future. Present progressive is also known as present continuous.

Examples of the Present Progressive Tense
·         Caroline is looking for the latest brochure.
·         Dan and Billy are fishing off the pier.

You can also have a negative version:
·         Caroline is not looking for the latest brochure.
·         Dan and Billy are not fishing off the pier.

And the question version:
·         Is Caroline looking for the latest brochure?
·         Are Dan and Billy fishing off the pier?

Hi guys!

This is the assignment for this week:

Quarantine Exercises
Lesson 2 – Comparisons using “as + … + as”

Instructions:
1.    Review the use of “as + adjective + as”:
We use as + adjective/adverb + as to make comparisons when the things we are comparing are equal in some way:
The world’s biggest bull is as big as a small elephant.
The weather this summer is as bad as last year. It hasn’t stopped raining for weeks.
You have to unwrap it as carefully as you can. It’s quite fragile.

Not as … as
We use not as … as to make comparisons between things which aren’t equal:
It’s not as heavy as I thought it would be, actually.
Rory hasn’t grown as tall as Tommy yet.
She’s not singing as loudly as she can.
They didn’t play as well as they usually do.

2.    Write 10 sentences using “as + adjective + as” to express similarities:

1.    Paola is as smart as Bryan
2.      ____________________________________________________________
3.      ____________________________________________________________
4.      ____________________________________________________________
5.      ____________________________________________________________
6.      ____________________________________________________________
7.      ____________________________________________________________
8.      ____________________________________________________________
9.      ____________________________________________________________
10.  ____________________________________________________________
11.  ____________________________________________________________

Remember that is mandatory to write the exercises in your notebook first, (when back to school, notebooks are going to be checked by the teacher) and then send a picture of your job when is done.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
